Biden called on the outgoing President, Donald Trump to fulfil his oath on national television and defend the country’s constitution.

Recall that a violent protest had erupted at the US Capitol after Trump addressed his followers vowing “never to concede” defeat.

During the protest, a woman was shot dead.

Reacting, Biden said the incident was not a representation of who Americans are.

In a series of tweets on his verified Twitter handle, Biden insisted that Americans practice a lawful and respectful democracy.

He wrote: “I call on President Trump to go on national television now to fulfil his oath and defend the Constitution by demanding an end to this siege

“Our way is plain: It is the way of democracy — of lawfulness, and of respect — respect for each other, and for our nation.”
