Ortom disclosed that youths would be given a platform to show their entrepreneurship in Agriculture.

The governor stated this in his new year message to people of the state.

In the message signed by his spokesman, Tever Akase, the governor
urged Benue indigenes to take advantage of opportunities provided by the state government.

While lamenting the challenges of 2020, including COVID-19 and insecurity, Ortom maintained that God must be praised for His protection all through the year.

He also commended the State Action Committee on COVID-19, led by his Deputy, Engineer Benson Abounu and all those who have been diligently serving in the frontline and the back end to contain the pandemic.

Ortom said their selfless efforts have resulted in a relatively successful response to the virus in the state.

The message reads partly: “Arising from the Youth Summit recently held in the state, his administration is “introducing programmes to give young people opportunities to maximize their potentials in entrepreneurship, particularly in the agriculture value chain, to add greater value to themselves and the state in general.”

Ortom also reminded indigenous entrepreneurs of the “existing opportunities such as the partnership the State has with Bank of Industry, BOI, to give loans at only 5% interest rate.

He encouraged the people to massively go into farming and other aspects of agriculture.
