Atiku accuses Buhari of destroying Intels, withdraws his shares from company

Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar has revealed how President Muhammadu Buhari has attacked his company, Integrated Logistics Services Limited since 2015.

The Integrated Logistics Services Limited popularly called ‘Intels’ was co-founded by Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and an Italian, Gabriele Volpi to carry out services in the Maritime and Oil sector.

But he alleges the company has constantly been under attack by the President Muhammadu Buhari led administration since 2015.

In a statement on Monday by his spokesman, Paul Ibe, Atiku accused the Federal Government of targeting his business interests, saying, “there should be a marked difference between politics and business.

Ibe narrated that there was an agreement with the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), which allowed Intels to collect revenue on behalf of the federal government agency on some port operations in 2010.

He expressed surprise that the Buhari led administration put up a protest accusing the company of being involved in some illegal dealings.

‘He alleged that in 2017, the Federal Government terminated the boat pilotage agreement it signed with the company after the Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, said its operations violated the constitution.

The company had also been accused of not paying taxes in 2017 — the same year NPA accused it of failing to remit an outstanding $48 million, he added.

The statement further said: “Co-founder of Integrated Logistics Services Nigeria Limited (Intels), Atiku Abubakar, has been selling his shares over the years.

“It assumed greater urgency in the last five years because this Government has been preoccupied with destroying a legitimate business that was employing thousands of Nigerians because of politics.

“He has sold his shares in Intels and redirected his investment to other sectors of the economy for returns and creation of jobs.”
